Monday, Monday

Today, Mom loaded me in the crate to run some errands. We got to go to my favorite store! I need to practice my 'proper greet', but I'll get there. Mom bought some treats so I will be stocked up for awhile. Is there something coming up that I don't know about? hmmm After the trip to my favorite store, we came home for a few minutes. Then Mom wanted me to get back in the car. I thought we were going to be home for awhile. I was in for a nice surprise! We went to Shawnee Mission Park where we walked and walked and walked. It was a nice paved trail and I got to chase some grasshoppers:) Mom was pointing out some pretty flowers along the way, beautiful yellow flowers and some pink lantana-looking flowers. Mom took a picture with her phone, but the pictures didn't turn out good. Maybe we'll go back! When we got home, I crashed for a couple hours. Could've slept longer if the neighbor dog hadn't barked and woke me up. Oh well. I got a nice nap in while Mom & Dad went for a bike ride.

Beginning Training Finale

Mom & Dad got up early and went to breakfast. After they got home, we just chilled for awhile. Then they started having me practice all my tricks and commands. When we got to PetSmart for my class, I was not being very cooperative. The trainer had the 'course' set up, so we went through that. The last thing to do was a 'proper greet' for the trainer. It's hard to do that because I know he has a pouch full of treats! I made it, though. Now it is test time. Dad helped me through all the 'commands', and we aced most everything. I had a little trouble with my concentration. Kept thinking about that pouch of treats! I made it though, and there was a great photo opp!

Later on in the afternoon, Mom and Dad took me to Shawnee Mission Park where we hiked to get some caches. It's been a big day for me!

Beautiful Day

We headed out of Hannibal today, caching our way to Moberly. At least that was the original plan. Dad wanted to go get a cache with a 4.5 difficulty, so that's what we set out to do. It was quite an ordeal. There was no trail, so we had to make our own. The cache was easily accessible by boat, but we were on foot! It took us 3hours total, but it was such fun. Dad even let me off the leash on the walk back. I really liked that! And I kept looking back to be sure he and Mom were keeping up!

We were all pretty tired after that hike, so we decided just to head on home today. There were some things Dad wanted to show us on the way home, so we cached on!

We went to Paris! Cached all around town and saw some pretty cool things. I got to meet some more cachers who liked me. After we finished the caches in Paris, we headed home - on the back roads, Mom's favorite!

This California Redwood was in Paris! It was planted in 1832! Of course, there was a cache nearby:)

Exploring Hannibal

We are caching and hanging around in Hannibal today. Our first walk was a short one. Mom and me got to meet some people on the trail while Dad was getting a cache. Mom said we created a diversion;)

I kept hearing dogs bark and I barked back at them a little, even though I couldn't see them. Mom & Dad knew where they were. There was a dog park across the street! We walked over there and found another cache, but there were 2 big dogs in the dog park, so we didn't get to go there:( Next stop was downtown to get Mom & Dad a coffee. Then we went to a cemetery. Mom & Dad won't let me out of the car in cemeteries, but we weren't there too long.

Then back to more caching. After awhile, we went back to the dog park where Mom & Dad discovered there was a fence dividing large and small dog play areas! woohoo!! The big dogs were gone by now, and I was the only small dog. A lady came with her medium-sized dog over to the big dog area. We talked through the fence, but she was an old pup and didn'g want to play. I had a good time playing with Mom & Dad, though.

Finally, we headed over to the MOGA headquarters to sign in. I got to meet lots of people and some nice pups. Everybody thought I was so nice! I love hearing people say nice things about me! We took a walk, then I got to meet more people, then back to the car.

Here we go again!

We're on the road again! Mom & I picked Dad up from work and we're headed to Hannibal. We're going to MOGA 2010, a geocaching 'mega' event. There will be cachers from all over the US attending. I'll get to make lots of new friends!

Along the way, we stopped at a covered bridge! It was way cool!

We got a really big room for this trip, and I have my own bedroom! I surprised Mom & Dad when I slept in there all by myself most of the night!

Happy Easter!

Today, we got one more cache in St Joseph before heading home. Something about Mom had some travel bugs she needed to drop off. It was good to get back home. We had a lazy day and just stayed around the house.

Pony Express Sesquicentennial

Today we went down to the old part of St. Joseph. They're having a Pony Express geocaching event today to coincide with the city celebrating the Pony Express Sesquicentennial. It's a big festival! Mom & Dad are excited to show me off and let me meet some of their caching friends. We got there early and Dad wanted to take me over to see the shetland pony rides. Well, before we got there, I found some shetland pony poop and decided I needed to roll in it! oops! Dad quickly took me back to the car and he and Mom wiped me all over with baby wipes. Needless to say I had to wait in the car in my crate while they went to the caching event:( I didn't get to meet anybody. After that, we went down to the Pony Express site again. They were mailing some letters that the Pony Express re-enactors were going to carry to the post office, and we wanted to watch them take off. After we watched them, we went to a park and Mom & Dad rode their bikes for a little while. I waited in the car again. Then we went back and watched another Pony Express re-enactment. This one was at 7:15pm, the time 150 years ago when the 1st Pony Express rider left St. Joseph. There were some people clapping as speeches were made, and I didn't like that. Mom sensed I was nervous, so she took me farther into the park and away from the 'action'. Good thing she did, because they fired a cannon when the rider took off and that REALLY scared me! After that, we walked back to the car and went to our room. What a day!
