Week 3 of Training
We had to get up early this morning and take Dad to the airport. When we got back home, Mom and I curled up in the recliner and took a nap. After we woke up, we took a short walk to the end of the street and back. Then it was time to go to my training class. Mom was dreading this week, having to take me to class alone, and knowing that she would have to walk me around in the store and have me sit for strangers to pet me part of class. I did great with my 'proper greeting', well, until the treat ran out, then I got a little excited. I'm learning drop it, leave it, wait and stay this week. And mom learned that she can play tug-of-war with me and not have to worry about making me appear aggressive. I love walking around the store after class. There are always lots of other doggies in there, and today I met 2 more Rat Terriers! One was brown, like my brother Dave that I've heard so much about! All this excitement wears me out, so I was ready for an early bedtime tonight.

Walking on Frozen Snow
Today, Mom and I got some more walking in. We walked through the park. She says I'm doing pretty good on the leash. I'm trying. Sometimes I just get sooooo excited! At the back of the park there is still lots of frozen snow covering the sidewalk. It's freezing cold! We had to turn around before we got all the way to Monticello because Mom realized she dropped the 'clicker' and we had to go find it. Sure enough, there it was, on the frozen snow. Mom picked it up and we continued our walk home.

Walk Walk Walk
Today was a beautiful day! I got Mom to take me for a really long walk this afternoon. We walked around the block, yes, UP the hill. I'm working on loose leash walking, and it's hard for me to remember not to pull. We do a lot of stopping. And sitting. And starting over. After we went around the block, I was doing so good, Mom thought we should walk through the park, so that's what we did. Then when we got back from picking Dad up from work, we decided to all go walk at Nelson Island. We parked at Stump Park and walked from there to the island. Whew! That was a lot of steps for me! I did pretty good at not pulling, but I was pretty tired. I still like to check out what's in those tall grasses along the trail.

My Day Out
On Thursday's, well, most Thursday's I get to go to Doggy Day Care! I love going and playing with other pups. I pull Mom to the door when we get out of the car. Of course, I'm glad to see her when she picks me up, too. Usually Dad comes with her to get me, but today we had to go pick him up from work after Mom picked me up. After dinner, I played with Mom a little, and did my tricks for Dad, but I went to sleep pretty early.

Socializing
Mom and I hit the road this morning. Mom had some errands, so I was looking forward to our 2nd stop, my favorite store, PetSmart. I'm trying to learn (or re-learn) loose leash walking, but I've got to tell you; when it comes to PetSmart, I can hardly contain myself! I LOVE that place! I always get so much attention when we go there, and I get to see doggy friends as well. Paul gave me a treat today. I was too shy to take it from him last time, but I was ready today! Yum! Yum! Our next exciting stop was by Dr. B's office. They let me come in and play on the scales. Well, alright I have to sit on the scales, but after that guys, Julie gives me a treat! It doesn't get any easier than that! And then, I'm so cute, she gives me another treat when I 'sit' without being told to. I've got this girl figured out, so I do my 'sit pretty' trick without being told. Yep, you guessed it! Another treat! woohoo!! After taking a little nap with the warm sunshine coming through the window at home, I was ready to go for a walk. Mom kept making me stop. She says I was pulling on the leash. But I can explain! There's lots of smells out there, and I could hear my friends barking on the insides of their houses! Anyway, every time I pull and Mom makes me stop, she clicks, I sit, then she tells me to walk again and off we go! I got lots of treats today and it took us a long time to get that walk in, but we made it. Then it was back in the car to go pick Dad up from work! I will also mention that I made Mom happy when I rang my 'bells' on the door to go out to potty tonight. I finally 'got it' when she put a little peanut butter on there to entice me;)
