Fall is here!

I'm loving this fall weather, although sometimes I don't understand why it's so cool in the mornings. I don't like to go out with Dad sometimes. I will wait for awhile until it feels warmer outside! I get up with Dad and he feeds me breakfast, then usually a little stroll, but not so much these days.

Mom and I have been walking in the afternoon. We've even seen other 'walkers' out, so it's been a good experience for me.

Last week, we were walking with our friend Dana, and I happened to 'sniff' a snake. A copperhead, to be exact! Fortunately it was a little cool that day, and Mom noticed the mistake I was about to make!

You may not be able to see it in this photo. It's to the right of the leaves that are sticking out on the trail.

Photo opps

Late summer, Mom & I went to a dog park I had never visited. It was so much fun! She was a little nervous, but I knew what I was doing! There were no other pups there, so we had the run of the place. I didn't want to leave!

Advanced Graduate!

I took another class at PetSmart. This time there were only 2 other pups in my class, Sake and LadyBelle. We're all about the same size, and Sake and I resemble each other, if only in color!

This was a very interesting class. We all did very well, preparing for an eventual Canine Good Citizen certification, somewhere down the line. On our graduation night, we were all 3 'off' a little. Our parents couldn't understand it, and Jennifer (our trainer) was quite surprised by our actions.

We didn't mind posing together after all was said and done.

Early morning walks

Mom and I had lots of early morning walks during the summer. It was so hot during the day, we would hit the trails very early. Most days there was a short ride to the park and I was ok with that. Mom noticed anything out of the ordinary, though, and I would get sick in the car. We had lots of great walks, and I saw my first box turtle on the trail. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. I got some practice, meeting people on the trail, and seeing other pups. I, for the most part, was able to compose myself while the other pups made all the noise. Mom was quite proud of me! The squirrels, though, now that's another story! Those little buggers just need a good chase!

I'm a Winner!

We're back to catching up. In July, I won the Cutest Pet Photo! Mom submitted my photo to Muttz R Us, the one of me with my new toy on July 26 post, and lo and behold, I won!! We were all so excited! Mom picked out a t-shirt and I'm a celebrity!

I'm baaaack!!

Whew! What a day I've had! What a summer I've had:)

We'll start with my last couple of days and catch up on my summer later, alrighty?

Yesterday started off in a pretty normal way. Mom and I went for a long walk as usual, but we walked on a trail we haven't visited in a long while. It was SO much fun! I didn't get to greet any people or pups, but I spotted some squirrels!

We were home for a little while when Mom got a call and decided to meet our friend Dana for another walk and some lunch. It was such a nice day. I waited in the car while Mom and Dana did a little shopping, then I got to walk with them to get a sandwich and then off we went to a trail I've never walked on before! woohoo!! There were people and pups, too! Mom said I was being a good girl. I laid down and waited patiently (for the most part) while the people ate and talked. On the way back to the cars, I walked with Dana. She doesn't have a pup, and she really likes me. We had to stop quite a bit because I was so excited. It's hard to be a good girl ALL the time! I was one tired puppy when we got home!

Today, it was back in the car. Mind you, I'm not real fond of getting in the car yet. Sometimes, I will trick Mom and Dad and just jump right in. Most of the time, though, I let them 'bribe' me with a treat. hehe

After a breakfast stop for Mom and Dad, we went to a fun place for me! It was called 'Strutt with your Mutt'. There were SO many 'mutts' there! I was having the time of my life! Everyone was friendly and smiling! The best part was some of the people were giving out treats! It was like doggy Trick-or-Treat!! After we walked around the booths, Mom and Dad checked out the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test area. My friend Mike (my very first trainer, well with Mom and Dad anyway) asked if we were going to try the test today, but Mom and Dad think I'm not quite ready. I got to say hi to Leo, Mike's pup. I wanted to play, but I needed to find somebody my own size!

Next, we decided to walk down the Trolley Trail for a little while. That was great fun for me, meeting more pups along the way. I started acting silly on the way back. Dad tried to catch it on video, but I was too quick for him. Something about the surface I'm walking on sometimes just puts me in a silly mood. We got back to the main stage area and watched some of the contests, then it was time to head home. I got a good nap in the car, and slept way the rest of the afternoon.

What is this? Back to the car? Now we're going to do my Petsmart trip. We're working on me not trying to clean up under the shelves. After Petsmart, we went to Lowe's. My new favorite store! I got more treats! They were so kind to me. Mom and Dad noticed I was walking up to the employees at Petsmart and Lowe's. I'm under the impression all employees carry treat bags? Is that not right?

Well, I am one more tired puppy tonight, so I got Mom to work on our blog while I get a good nap in. Now it's almost bedtime, and I'm ready!

Out of July and in to August

Last week Mom picked me up a little early from my doggy day care day. I wasn't quite sure what was going on, but she told me I'd be back tomorrow.

Sure enough, I got to go back on Friday! And I got to stay the entire weekend! woohoo!!

I'm kinda sad though. It turns out, Mom and Dad met my favorite little girl and spent the weekend with her and her family. They told me it was just too hot for me to make the trip. Maybe next time they go it will be cooler so Sandy and I can join them. And I might get to spend a weekend with Toby & Haley there sometime!

We're having some hot weather today. Mom and I went for a walk early this morning. I want to go outside and play this evening, so Mom said maybe I would like to 'swim' when we go outside. Whatever, Mom. Let's just go outside! Pretty Please!!

Intermediate Graduate!

This is my toy Dad gave me after his trip last week.

I completed my 2nd training class tonight. I'm a graduate of the Intermediate Training Class at Petsmart! woohoo!!

Mom says I was so 'antsy' she didn't know if I would make it or not! My friends and I took turns going out into the store to show Jennifer what we had learned. It seemed to me that we needed to be having a play time while we waited. I was trying to voice my opinion as much as possible!

It was finally my turn to shine. Well, ok, my 'heel' needs work, but hey, Mom wondered if I'd ever get the hang of 'loose leash walking'. There's hope!

We went for the polka-dotted mortar board:)

Pomp and circumstance!

We only had 1 dog that didn't finish our class. Pretty amazing!

After class, Mom & Dad got me a new toy. I like it, and I'll try to learn to play with it, but tonight, I just want to chill:)

'Ruby-versary'

Mom says today is our 'Ruby-versary'! Hard to believe it's already been 6 months since I joined the family! When Dad got back from his business trip this afternoon, he gave me a new toy! I love it!

See my smile?

A day of 'firsts'

Mom and I were out for our morning walk this morning when I met my first kitty cat! He was laying in the sidewalk as we approached. He saw us before I saw him, so he stood up and arched his back. Mom stopped walking, so I did, too. She started saying 'Kitty, kitty'. What was that thing? He started 'slinking' towards us and making this funny sound mom called a 'meow'. Then Mom knelt down and told me it was a kitty. The kitty's owner saw us, so he came out and told us this kitty thinks he's a dog. We got close enough to 'sniff' each other, but after that I was ready to get on with my walk. Kitty schmitty!

This evening, Mom and I went outside to play a little ball. I was having a blast running through my tunnel and 'fetching' the ball for her. It was pretty hot outside, so we got my pool out. With just a little water in it, I really liked stepping in - with no coaxing to get my ball! I stood in it for a short time and cooled off. Nice!

Future Dog Trainer

This photo was taken during our Texas trip Father's Day Weekend.

Are we good girls or what?

July photos

It was dark. That flash was BRIGHT!

Catching up...

Where to start. Dad, Mom and I stayed home over the July 4th weekend. We spent some time on the patio and played a lot. We got some good walks in also. Dad and Mom were wondering how I'd do with all the fireworks going off in the neighborhood. I think I handled it quite well. The only time I really got scared was if there was a big boom, and I didn't like those high pitched fireworks. Mom was right there to soothe me when I needed it, so things were fine. When they went to the neighbors bbq, Dad came home a couple times to take me outside. I really liked it when they came home early because of the rain!

I'm still loving doggy day care. Mom takes me once a week to let me play with my friends.

I've had a couple vacations at Broadmore, too. When Dad and Mom fly somewhere, I get to stay there.

I'm almost finished with my Intermediate Training class. It's a big class and I get excited sometimes and can't concentrate too well, but most of the time I try really hard. I don't really care for 'heeling'. Mom thinks one of these days I will be as good at it as I am at loose leash walking.

Mom took some pictures of me a few days ago, so she will be posting those.

I've been playing in the back yard, running through my tunnel like a champ! I have a new neighbor, a little puppy named Findlay. We might be friends some day, but right now when he sees me, he hides behind people and barks at me! I like Daisy, my neighbor on the other side. She likes to lay by the fence, but when I go outside, she gets up and moves. What's up with that? Her brother Barley still barks at me, but he has allergies and can't stay outside. They say Barley used to be friendly, so maybe one day he will see what a nice girl I am and quit barking at me.

That 'swimming pool' Mom bought me is still a water bowl. I will stand in it, but pretty much, the water just tastes good.

Today on our morning walk, someone told Mom I was beautiful:) Made my day!

Well, I'm ready to go outside for a little while so for now, consider Mom caught up:)

Mom!

Mom has fallen off the blogging wagon. I made her promise to get some pictures on here, and get back to blogging. She said she will do it tomorrow during my naptime:)

Weekend of Fun

I'm getting quite a few road trips under my belt! Mom, Dad and I went to Texas for Father's Day weekend. It was a very long ride down this time, as we made the trip in 1 day. When the road surface changes and makes noise, it makes me nervous, so I got sick in the car - again. Only 1 time though. I don't like construction zones:(

I was so glad to see everyone again! I'm getting more acquainted each time I come here. I played with Lyra more, and Sandy and I even had a great time playing with each other. She gave in to my youthful ways;)

Then I got to go to Granny & Paw-Paw's house. They love me, too! I got to meet Jerry and Barbara on this trip. I warmed right up to Jerry and gave him puppy kisses even as he was telling everybody I wasn't going to do that to him.

I was super excited to see Cindi & Al again. I got to see Al for a few minutes on Saturday night, but Sunday I got to spend some quality time with him.

I missed seeing Toby & Haley again and sure hope I get to see them on my next trip.

Everyone thinks I am a real sweet girl. That makes me so happy!

Play Day for Me:)

I got to go play today! I was so excited! I didn't particularly care for the ride there. It was in the new car and I had to get in that travel crate thing. When we got there, though, I was pulling Mom to the door! I just can't get to my friends fast enough! I'm such a social butterfly!

It was a very nice day today. Some might call it hot, but I call it perfect!

Mom was somewhat (maybe even very) dismayed when she picked me up and found out I had worked my way out of my collar. My friend there found it on the play yard. Hey! At least I didn't chew it this time!

Mom says she's determined I'm going to wear a collar, and I'm determined I'm going to go collarless.

I'm just chilling in my crate now, ready and waiting for human bedtime. Mom and Dad are gathering things again. Looks like another road trip is in my future;)

Getting over vacation

Ahhhh! I spent a few days at my favorite vacation spot while Mom & Dad went on a little trip. I have so much fun playing with my doggie friends! I might miss my own bed a little bit, but it's all good!

Mom came to pick me up this morning, and I was spinning in circles, I was so excited to see her! I jumped in the car and off we went! I even got to see Dad, since he went into work a little later today.

Finally, Mom took me for a walk. We worked on homework for our training class, then it was nap time.

Recall Works!

I didn't realize today was Mom's birthday. She didn't realize I snuck out the door with the garage open while Dad was getting ready to go to work. She tells me she was quite panicked when she realized I hadn't gone back upstairs to take my morning nap as usual.

Here's what she says: She ran down the stairs, grabbed her whistle/clicker and her cell phone. She called Dad and told him I wasn't at home. He turned around to come back home. Mom blew her whistle out back, then went to the front. Dad called her and told her which direction he had been walking me while she was gone last week. She looked up, saw a 'white' flash and knew where I was! By the time she blew her whistle, I was in plain sight down the street. Mom says she could tell I heard the whistle by the way I was jumping around, but my vision isn't great that far away. Mom waited for me to stop jumping around, then blew the whistle again and called my name. When I saw her kneel down, I knew I had to get to her! She says I ran like the wind. She got the 'jackpot' ready for me! woohoo!! She called Dad when she first saw me, so he didn't have to come back home after all.

Mom says the rest of her day was uneventful;)

Showing Off

Today was another work in the front yard day for Mom & Dad. That means I got to spend a lot of time outside again. I love being outside! Mom took my Kong toy out there, and gave me another chew stick.

Some of the neighbor kids came by to pet me. I'm such a lovable girl! One neighbor boy that was afraid of me when he first met me was thrilled when Dad told him I would 'sit' for him. Dad instructed him on the 'sit' command and hand signal and I was proud to 'sit' for him! He was thrilled. He called his parents over to see what he could do. Maybe he will change his mind about dogs.

Then the little girl that loves dogs came to see me. I have a hard time with 'sit' around her. I'm trying really hard, though. And she's working with her Dad on not walking up to me unless I'm sitting.

It was a great day to be me! I even got to greet some neighborhood dogs as they walked by.

Home Sweet Home

We got back home this afternoon! I sure like getting back home. I didn't get sick in the car today!

Mom and Dad had lots of yard work to do, so I got to spend a great deal of time outside with them! I love it! I even helped them dig a little! I also buried a bone. I buried it really good. They never did find it! hehe

Going again...

I got to stay at Sandy's all day today! Mom and Dad had some errands again, but I was able to stay with Lyra, Logan and their folks.

Tonight, I stayed with Sandy (in my crate) while the people went to eat again. This time it was for Mom's birthday! I've heard Lyra singing Happy Birthday Gramma all week! She's been adding other names, too. I think she knows a lot of people with birthdays this month!

I didn't get to see Toby & Haley on this trip. I hope next time I get to play with them. Maybe we'll become better friends when we see each other more often.

After awhile, everybody got back to the house. Then, Dad loaded the car again. This time Mom came home with us! We drove into Oklahoma City to spend the night. Ahh, sleep!

Travelin' Girl!

I'm becoming quite the traveler! Dad & I hit the road this morning, heading back to Sandy's house! Turns out there was a birthday party for Lyra, so Dad dropped me off at Sandy's and went to party with the people.

When the people got to the house, there was Mom! I was so glad to see her! She said she missed me, too! Of course, Lyra was glad to see me. She asked Grandpa if I was at her house. She loves me! As a matter of fact, she didn't want me to go back home with Grandpa last Saturday, but I had to help him drive.

It's fun being back here where I get so much attention. I do get a little confused on toys, though. Sometimes I pick up Lyra's instead of Sandy's. oops!

Back in the car!

Mom and Dad let me stay at Sandy's house while they ran some errands with Lyra. I like playing with Sandy. Mom says we played together better this time. We got a little rowdy a time or two, what with the new baby and all. Sometimes I just get too excited!

After Mom, Dad & Lyra got back, Dad started loading the car again. My stuff was going in there, too, but not Mom's! It turns out, Mom was staying to spend some time with Logan & Lyra (and her 'kids') while Dad & I came back home.

It was a long ride, straight home, but Dad stopped several times and let me stretch my legs. I didn't get sick on this trip! Go figure!

Friday, May 28, 2010

Hello, Logan!

We made it back to Sandy's house today! That would be Lyra and Logan's house also. I met Logan today. Last time we were here, he was still in the hospital when we came home. He's a sweet little boy baby. I couldn't get too close to him, but I had great fun with his big sister! She loves getting me to 'sit' - and 'leave it' when I get too close to her toys.

Sandy goes in and out all by herself. She pushes with her head on this little door and then she's gone! I can see her outside! I'm just not that brave! Lyra doesn't mind, though. She loves to raise the flap for me when I want to go outside, and again when I'm ready to come in.

Thursday, May 27, 2010

On the road again...

Here we go again! Mom and Dad started packing clothes, so I knew something was up. When I saw my bag being packed, I realized I would be going on another trip as well. I try to be a sport about it, but sometimes, my tummy is just too nervous!

We were driving on roads I've never seen before. Mom & Dad think that might be part of my throwing up in the car problem. It doesn't happen on every car ride. I've even been jumping in the car on my own sometimes.

Anyway, we stopped in Big Cabin, OK to visit Mom's grandpa's cousin. He's 92 years old. I didn't get to go in his house. I waited patiently for Mom and Dad to come back out so we could get back on the road.

We finally stopped in s small town down the road a ways and we got to go to sleep!
Yes! I also got to eat again!

Tunnel Vision

Mom had a surprise for me tonight after she finished working in the yard! She bought me a tunnel! I surprised her right back and ran through it several times on my long line. What can I say? There were treats at the other end - EVERY TIME!

Weekend of Yard Work

This weekend, I was outside with Mom and Dad all day, working in the back yard! I love being outside. Mom and Dad put some pretty things in the ground, and I even got to do a little digging in the dirt! I love to stir up new scents!

At one point on Saturday, I got to chase a rabbit! Great fun! Thank goodness Dad called me back to him. No telling where that rabbit would've led me!

Mom and Dad got me a swimming pool, whatever that is. To me, it looks like a big water bowl! Mom put a little water in it, so whenever I wanted a drink, I just mosied on over to the 'pool'. It seemed more fun than drinking out of my normal water bowl.

Last night, as the weekend came to an end, Mom and Dad were working feverishly to get the patio cleaned off. I didn't really understand it all, but once it was finished, the 3 of us just kicked back and relaxed. Nice! A girl could get used to this!

Damp Doggy Daycare Day

It rained on me today at Doggy Daycare! I really don't mind the rain, especially when I have someone to play with:)

At one point today, my human friend noticed I was in a bit of a pickle. She was giving me some fresh water and noticed I was acting strange. I had my collar in my mouth and couldn't bite through it or get it out of my mouth! I have a reputation for chewing collars, so my friend removed the collar and everything was cool! My tooth bled a little, but no serious damage.

When we got home this afternoon, Mom and Dad discussed my wearing/not wearing a collar. They prefer I wear one, so Mom put the collar back on me. It's a little tighter now, but I guess I'll just have to wear it. It's actually been weeks since I attempted to chew a collar, so maybe I will get used to it eventually.

Dog Park Part Deux

Mom wanted to post one more video of how much fun I was having!

Dog Park!!

Mom and I went for a walk yesterday in the misty rain. I didn't mind it at all. I've missed running and playing outside with this rainy weather.

Today, Mom decided, would be a good time to try off-leash at the dog park. Dad was working on bicycles, so Mom and I headed to the park. We started off walking on some trails with the long line. Recall was working, so Mom decided to let me go where the other dogs were, down by the lake. Those silly dogs were jumping in the water and swimming. I was happy just getting my feet wet and lapping at the water. I wanted to walk some more after I met those pups.

As we walked back up the hill, Mom let me get off the leash! She was amazed at how fast I ran! I was having SO much fun!! I always went right back to Mom when she called me, though. Since she can't whistle loud, she used the whistle she bought recently. It worked like a charm, and she didn't even have to blow it that loud. She didn't want all the dogs coming to her, just me;)

When we got home, I got a bath right away. I did my 'endo' trick in the bathtub. Mom doesn't know how I do it, but it sure makes her laugh! All of a sudden, I stand on my front feet and my hind feet are in the air! Guess you could say I'm a well-balanced girl;p Anyway, now I'm all clean and ready for a nap!

Lovin' my Playtime

It was a little rainy when Dad took me outside this morning, but a little later when Mom put me in the car, it was just cloudy. I wasn't sure where we were going, but I was thrilled to see it was Doggy Day Care! I love my puppy time! I was so excited, I pulled Mom to the door, then when I got inside I couldn't contain myself! I had to bark back at my friends! Mr. Pat couldn't get me to the back fast enough!!

When Mom picked me up in the afternoon, she was in for a surprise! I showed her I was willing to jump into the car by myself! That's the first time I've ever done that! She was so happy!

We went to pick Dad up from work, so Mom had to tell him about my new trick. He was glad to hear my news, too! Since the crate wasn't in the car, I was able to reach up and give Dad lots of puppy kisses. After that, he let me ride in his lap on the way home.

I got to go out in the backyard with Mom & Dad after we ate, and I showed them I really understand recall. They are so proud of me! And those new treats Mom had for me are delicious!

I humored Mom and played fetch with her for a few minutes this evening. Now I'm going to take a good nap before bedtime.

Another Rainy Day

Playing with my toys

After an early morning rain, Mom & I went for a long walk. I loved it! I saw a couple pups along the way, but we didn't get to meet. One time, as we were walking by a little pond, I could hear frogs. Drove me crazy! I wanted so bad to jump over the grasses and get to them. Even on my leash, I did a flip or two. Mom didn't quite know what to think! Gotta keep her on her toes:)

I saw a baby dove in our yard yesterday, and almost had it, but Mom told me to leave it, so I did. Today, I wanted to look for it again, but Mom wouldn't let me. She thinks it might still be in the junipers and doesn't really want me to find it.

This evening, as storms rolled through, I got a little uneasy. I can handle a rumble or two of thunder, but when there's a lot, I just need a lap! Fortunately, Mom & Dad understand, and let me cuddle.

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Working in the yard

Today, Mom & I worked in the yard. She was pulling weeds and grass out of flower bed and planted a few new plants also. I got to explore, play in the dirt and enjoy the sunshine. I even took a short nap in the sun.

Mom thought she might be able to catch an oriole with her camera. She did - barely. Those birds are shy! -- Well, Mom is having trouble getting the image cropped. Maybe next time she will be able to get closer.

Rainy Day Playtime

It's a rainy day, so I'm playing inside today. Hopefully it won't rain all day and I can take Mom for a walk;)

In the meantime, I'm having fun with my new stuffed squeaky ball!

Fun Day

Today, we drove in from Weston so I could go to Doggy Day Care. Also, so Dad could go to work and Mom could do her volunteer work, but I like to think it was all for me!

I met another Ruby as we arrived at Doggy Day Care. She was later that day to be certified as a therapy dog. She was a beauty!

Mom thinks I played hard again, because as soon as we got in the car to come home, I laid down. I usually like to look around. We went home for a little while, then headed back to Weston to get our tent. Thunderstorms are due in the area tonight, and Mom & Dad think I might not like to be out in that kind of weather.

I slept all the way to Weston. I thought I was going to get more play time in there, but we weren't there very long. Maybe next time I will get to walk on some of the trails. Mom & Dad think I will love them!

When we got back home, Mom gave me a stuffed squeaky ball her friend Dana bought for me. Mom told Dana about my travel crate from Bed, Bath & Beyond and when Dana went to get one, they were marked way down. She was so grateful to Mom, she bought me the toy. I love it!

Mom also bought me a little toy today at Target. She was looking for some toys like Toby & Haley have. The one she found is a little rabbit with a squeaker. It's fun, and furry! Maybe soon I will have lots of toys in my toy box.

Camping!

Today after Dad got home from work, we decided to go camping! Mom & Dad got things together and I just kinda stood back and watched. I wasn't sure what 'camping' meant. They loaded the car, and when I got in the car, I realized I was going camping, too;)

We drove to Weston Bend State Park and Mom & Dad were able to get their 'favorite' camping spot. I really like this place. There are so many things to smell! Mom got the tent set up while Dad unpacked things. They realized they brought the wrong air mattress:( Instead of the little one for the tent, they had the BIG one. It took up the whole floor of the tent, so there wasn't room for my bed. I didn't mind. It was cozy sleeping all curled up in the tent on the air mattress.

After we got the tent set up, we jumped in the car and drove to watch the sunset. Mom tried a new setting on her camera. Then she took one of me by the campfire with a chew stick.

Dad and me at the lookout.

Sunset at the lookout

On my special rug by the campfire with a chew stick. Life IS Good!

I got a little spooked once, heard something in the woods and started barking. Then I jumped in Mom's lap. I'm only so big, you know!

It was only for one night, but I think I'm going to like this camping thing!

Tuesday Fun

Mom and I went for our usual walk this morning. Then I took my usual nap. I love to go back upstairs and go to bed after breakfast, and sometimes after our walks.

This afternoon, I went outside with Mom while she worked in the flower beds. She had me on the long leash so she could keep an eye on me. That worked out fine while I was checking things out and then chewing on my little rawhide stick. After that, I got bored and put my sharp teeth to work in no time chewing the long line! Mom couldn't believe how fast I got through it! She thinks it can be tied or repaired in some way.

Also today, I found 'Windy & Stormy', Mom's 2 stuffed dogs. She's had them several years. I couldn't resist playing with Stormy. I got scolded several times. One time, I heard Mom coming, so I ran and hid Stormy. Mom knew what I was up to, though. The last time, I just laid on the floor and acted innocent. I think I've learned my lesson now, though. The last time, Mom said 'No Ma'am'! Reminded me of Lyra telling me 'No Ma'am', and when I hear that, I know it's serious!

After Dad got home from work, we loaded up our backpack and went to the park for a walk and a picnic. I got to see a rabbit and I watched a Great Blue Heron across the pond. Something jumped right in front of me as we got off the paved trail, but none of us saw what it was. That was exciting for me!

Mom didn't take the camera today, so no pics. Maybe tomorrow;)

Playtime

I got a surprise playtime this evening! I walked along the back of our property and discovered that Nolla was out in her yard. She has a great fenced yard. There was no turning back! We've met before, but I haven't seen Nolla in quite a while. We hear each other's barks, though. Our Dad's weren't quite sure if we'd be able to play together since she's a Golden Retriever, but we had such fun! I got to show off how agile I am. We had an amazing time playing. Nolla runs faster than me, so I did most of the chasing. She's a year older than me, but I love her energy level;) I think we'll be great friends and hope we get to play together again soon!

Routine

I'm getting back in my routine today. Mom and Dad said I 'regressed' over the last week. I've got a feeling we're going to be doing lots of training exercises this week! Mom was excited to see that I remembered to 'sit' before taking off on our walk today! Maybe I didn't 'regress' as much as they thought;p

My Week in Texas

We had everybody wondering what we were looking for!

Lyra takes such good care of me:)
These pictures are from my week in Texas with Mom. Now I know why we were there. Mom and Dad got a new grandson on Friday! I haven't met him yet, but they tell me he is a real cutie! I know we will be buddies when he gets older.
Mom needed some cheering up on our way home yesterday, so we stopped by a geocaching event and I got to meet some new friends. I love those little pint-sized people that pet me and tell me how pretty I am:)

Playtime with Toby & Haley

I love Elmo! I think I need one of these at home! Lyra loved that I was laying on her little couch! She's really good to me.

Mom and me spent the night at Toby & Haley's tonight. It was a rocky start, humans, but we made it and we're getting along just fine!

Sunday Family Fun

After getting to see Sandy and my little friend Lyra yesterday, I got to meet Toby and Haley for the first time today. It took a little while, but we're all getting along nicely. Just wish those humans would've shared some of those tasty burgers with us!

Friday's scenic route

Cottonwood Falls

Chase County Courthouse in Cottonwood Falls, KS

Dad's in jail!!

Here we go again!

I knew something was up when Mom & Dad got the suitcases out. Then last night, I came downstairs to find my bed in the area with the suitcases. I thought I better lay there, just in case. I just took a nap, though.

This morning, Mom took a picture of me laying on my bed with all the trip 'stuff' surrounding me. I'm all comfy now in the rental car, and we're about ready to hit the road. Mom will post pictures tonight:)

It's My Birthday!!

I'm 1 year old today! Watch for pictures to be posted later. I hear there's going to be a p-a-r-t-y!! I've got to get my nails done first;p

Nails are done! That was easy. I got lots of treats for cooperating, then doing my tricks! I also got to see Herbert again, and meet Dr Doug's new pup, Alvin. How can they just sit there when there's so much to look at around here?

Mom & I went back to Shawnee Mission Park and walked a long walk again. I had more fun today. I got to see some ducks, geese and even a couple deer! We walked right up on the deer. I don't know who was more startled, me, the deer or Mom! I was really wanting to get closer to the deer but Mom wouldn't let me. Mom took the new treat pouch, lanyard and clicker/whistle that she got today. She ordered them from muttzrus.com They're here in Shawnee and just happens to be my trainer. Mom really needed that whistle. Maybe we will get to go to the dog park soon!

Party tonight! Mom & Dad made me wear this silly hat. I humored them - just so I could enjoy my special birthday cookie! After I finished my cookie, there was a present for me to open! I like this birthday stuff! Oh, Mom made cupcakes for the people to eat;)

Opening my present!

Just what I wanted!

I LOVE my new toy:)
